Ralph Houk had an OK career as a baseball player but he found his real calling as a manager. Houk led the Yankees to World Series Championships in 1961 and again in 1962 and later managed the Tigers and for four seasons the Red Sox. Ted Williams was considered one of the best hitters of all time and some would argue that if it wasn't for three years serving in World War II he could have gone down as the greatest player ever. He compiled a .344 lifetime average with 521 home runs and over 2000 RBIs and of course he was the last player to hit over .400 doing so in 1941 with a .406 average.
