The defending World Series champs, the Boston Red Sox, are facing tough competition this year in the AL East.  It’s August, and the Tampa Bay Rays are still at the top of the division!  But don’t count out the Sox just yet—with players like David Ortiz back in the lineup, this team could make a strong showing in the last eight weeks of the regular season.  The New York Yankees aren’t out of the race just yet.  Players like Alex Rodriguez, Joba Chamberlain and Yankee captain Derek Jeter are definitely capable of taking the team to the postseason. 

In the NL East, the New York Mets have come back big from a slow start.  With David Wright and Jose Reyes in the lineup—not to mention Johan Santana on the mound—this is definitely a team to watch out for!  The Chicago Cubs look great in the NL Central.  Will they win their first title in 100 years, or will their cross-town rivals, the Chicago White Sox, bring another championship to the South Side?  Out in California, the Los Angeles Dodgers just acquired Manny Ramirez from the Sox.  Will his bat give them a late-season edge in the NL West?
